ANG BUWAD SA BORBON

Bation ko ang sobrang kahinangop kong magsing-abot na ang adlaw’ng Dominggo kay pinaka-espesyal kini nga adlaw para kanako.  Momata’g sayo sa buntag para manilhig sa tugkaran human maligo aron limpyo ang panumduman nga motambong sa unang misa sa San Sebastian.     Bitbit ang mga patulun-ang gibatbat ni Padre Caballes, magdali’g balik ug lugsong pauli adto agi sa bakilid nga dalan paingon sa merkado.  Mao kini ang kanunay’ng mobalik-balik sa akong panumduman bisan ug sobra na sa napulo ka katuigan ang nanglabay.

Apan ang makapadasig pag-ayo sa tanan kong moabot na ang adlaw’ng Domingo, mao ang baho sa buwad nga nangalimyon sa dihang dipangladlad na sa mga tindera sa luyo sa merkado ang ilang mga tinda.  Dili ikabaylo ang kalami sa buwad bolinaw sa tinda nga humba kaniadto sa akong nanay diin naglutaw-lutaw ang mga bidli sa baboy niini.

Modalikyat gidayon ko paingon sa kinaluyohang bahin sa merkado para mangita sa akong paboritong buwad bolinaw.  Sa nagpadulong pa lang, mga kasikas sa mga suki ni Nang Maret dinuyugan sa singgit ni Noy Boy ug ni Noy Porito uban sa mga puntos sa tigbakay ang akong naaninaw sa unahan.  Pagkasadya ug pagkanindot pamation nga bisan sa kamingaw sa atong lungsod, ang kasikas sa mga paninda sa merkado nagpadayon gihapon pagtagbaw sa atong mga lumad nga lumulupyo.

Bitbit ang tagtunga ka kilo nga buwad bolinaw, mapahiyumon na’kong gahuna-huna nga kini mosulbad na sa usa ka semanang ‘budget’ sa akong kaon didto sa dakbayan diin gipadayon ko ang akong pagpanimpad nga makatiwas ug eskwela sa kolehiyo.  Ug kong mapul-an na’g kinaon sa kaparat niini, mag-ilis gidayon ko sa akong paborito ug walay kapul-anang soup of the day nga “Lucky Me” apan pinaresan gihapon ug side item nga buwad.

Dakong tabang para kanako ang buwad nga pagapaliton ko didto sa merkado sa Borbon.  Ug mas dakong tabang ang mga tindera sa buwad diin wala nila igsapayan ang kanunayng baho sa buwad nga ilang gihanggap kada tabo sa merkado matagaan lang ug igong katagbawan ang ilang mga suki sama kanako.

Sa mga tindera ug buwad diha sa merkado sa Borbon, daghang salamat kaninyo.

First of all, kami nagpasalamat sa kinasingkasing sa tanang
BOD/members overseas nga mao ang nagpaluyo para mahimong successful
ang activity nga gihulma for the kids. We THANK YOU for the
experience we had especially nga its Christmas. Dili kabayran og sapi
ang kalipay nga among bation, as volunteers, seeing the kids happy
and excited especially if magdangarang nami sa venue and until after
the activity.

Although naa pressures from our part tungod kay kami ang working
team, but at least we were able to weather everything successfully.

Una, dili kaayo daghan ang TAGA BORBON members ang ni volunteer to be
there during the activity. Maybe they have other personal priorities
since its Christmas, naa pod daghan kalingawan sa atoa,…although
some of them nananghid man jud nga dili sila makatunga tungod sa
ilang prior commitments.

The members that volunteered throughout the activity were (ako), Tata
Brigoli, Daisy Brigoli sa Campusong, Jake Monsanto, Geo Ponce, James
Mangubat, Cristel Ponce & Felix Mundo. Present during the wrapping of
gifts and repacking of the rice were Felix, James, Junjun Dosdos and
Wendil sa Cadaruhan.

December 25, 2008 (Tabunan/Tagnucan/Cadaruhan/Poblacion)

On the first day since wala mi driver kay birthday man diay ni Lola
Bedad nya medyo na busy si Harry sa ilaha, i was forced (hehe) to
drive sa multicab nga gihuwaman ni Tata from his uncle in Tabunok.
Maayo gani kay lowland lang among ruta, dili najud palabot ang buntis
og drive sa upland. Good thing, nakakita pod si Tata og makadrive sa
2nd day para sa upland which is Jomar.

Sa 1st stop pa lang namo sa Tabunan/Tagnucan naawayan najud mi
gumikan kay naay inahan nga nakiglalis jud ngano wala giapod ang
gifts for the kids (the prizes) og ang bugas. Hinuon the mother came
from Nipa, Tabogon nga naay day care kid nagskuyla sa Tagnucan. But,
napasabot raman pod nuon sa hinay.

In the case sa Poblacion nga naay tulo ka centers, the number of kids
nga gi limit mosobra jud. Nya ang Magdolinog ni request og sakyanan
for the kids, nga wala jud nato na provide, mao nga wala juy bata
from Magdolinog nga nakaapil. Risgo man gud to transport the kids
especially nga uwan-uwan diri sa atoa. Nya mahadlok pod si Mam Lita
Incila nga hubog ang mga habal-habal drivers from Christmas
celebration pa or from discos, mao nga wala nalang jud gipalugsong
ang mga kids from magdolinog. Mam Lita asked basin naa ta sobra mga
school supplies ba ron mahatag sa mga bata didto.

Sa pagluto sa spaghetti, the original plan was to have the day care
workers cook everything. But ang nahitabo, Mam Lita called up Dec.24
sa gabii telling me nga kami daw jud dapat moluto sa lutoonon. Risgo
daw if ipaluto sa DCW kay basin naa daw mga bata simbako magsakit ang
tiyan tungod sa pagluto, or worse mangahilo tungod sa food kay na
known baya ang Borbon daghan langaw og contaminated nga water, mao na
change iyang mind nga iari nalang sa amoa ang obligasyon sa pagluto.
As a result, sa amoa giluto ang 4 groups (Tabunan/Tagnucan,
Cadaruhan, Poblacion og Sagay) while ang 2 groups (Laaw,etc &
Campusong) didto sa ilang Tata Brigoli.

LATE pod nako na check ang email ni Mich nga e 2kilos lang ang bugas
sa DCW while the rest sa volunteers. Bitaw unta to noh. Si James
rajud amo nahatagan og bugas kay nangayo man (hehe) nya grabe man pod
iya lihok isip Santa Claus.

Nya sa sliced bread, late pod nako nacheck ang email ni Mich nga 1
slice lang ihatag sa mga kids. Naanad man gud ta nga iakob ang sliced
bread hatag kay ila man ipalaman ang spaghetti, mao to nga medyo
short jud sa gi budget ni Mich for sliced bread.

December 26, 2008 (Laaw/Sagay)

Nya sa 2nd day sa activity, nakuwayan mi pag-abot namo sa Laaw Plaza
kay pwerte daghana kids nga gikan pa as far as Saling-it in Bongdo,
Bongdo Proper, Lugo, Cajel, etc. Niabot jud og 108 ka kids vs the
50kids nga budget. Mao to nga naproblema nami kay wala nami mapakaon
sa next stop sa Sagay. Nag emergency miting mi what to do, we planned
nga mouli lang sa ubos basin makakuha mi sa Molejon Bakeshop og sa
Coop og sliced bread og juice. Until we mentioned the problem to Mam
Lita Incila who was present at the moment, nya mao to wala nalang mi
niya gipapauli sa lungsod, she lent us money nalang para mapalit namo
for Sagay gathering.

Sa Sagay mga almost 70kids pod ang niapil with kids from Bagacay,
Managase, Bongoyan and Sagay. Ni join pod sa atoa isip support ang
MSWD DCW Trainor nga si Mam Charito Ylanan. Didto pod mi nakapaniudto
tanan sa ilang Mam Charito sa Laaw, nagpalit lang mi isda gimantikaan.

December 27, 2008 (Campusong)

Then pag 3rd day, we have Campusong/Bingay nalang. Wala na kaayo mi
naproblema didto since duol lang man kaayo ang balay nila Nanay
Auring Brigoli for anything (hehe). Bitaw, daghan pod ang nitabang
namo didto nga mga Titas, hasta si Lola. Wala lang kids nakatunga
from Bingay kay wala diha ang ila DCW.

Pag 3rd day pod, si Santa James wala najud nakatunga kay pwerte ang
hilanat.

 Ang bugas diay naa pa 3 packs nga sobra, naa sa amoa..other DCWs nga
wala nakatunga ilabi na kadtong lagyo najud kay gipahatagan man ni
Mam Lita. Ang kang DCW Flora sa Magdolinog iya jud daw kuhaon sa
amoa, she texted me. Ako nalang pod gitando. Nya ang uban nahatag
namo nga premyo sa mga kids, og nalung-ag namo didto sa upland og
lunch diri sa lowland.

The activity was a success inspite and despite. Nindot man ang
feeling when youre with the kids, especially jud kadtong mga kids nga
mahatagan lang og candies lami na kaayo og pahiyom.

NOTE: We will plan najud on how to raise funds diri locally para naa
mi ikasagang-sagang if ever. Ni suggest man unta to si Nang Annie
Caballero nga manaygon mi after sa 3rd day, unsaon wala paman pod
power oi. I for one, kay gihilantan jud after sa Campusong nga
activity until now. Bati man gud panahon diri sa atoa…uwan- init jud.
Magplano nalang pod unya mi sa next.

Our apologies diay kang Ms. Daryl Flores, wala namo naapil sa
pagrecognize isip one of the active overseas members. We dint mean it
jud Mam. Sorry…

The TAGA-BORBON Organization is happy to announce the success of the Mass Feeding activity last November 2, 2008 at the Borbon Public Cemetery. The Mass Feeding with humble sandwiches was allotted for 2,000 Borbonanons who came to the cemetery to pay tribute to their departed loved ones.

With the help of our generous donors from Borbonanon Overseas (you know who you are) and with the undying support of our hardworking local officers and members, it is indeed a big testament that Borbonanons can make a big difference if we work together.

Special THANKS to the following:

Roslyn Brigoli and Joshua Polinag – our main contacts/organizers for the said activity. Thank you for overlooking everything from grocery shopping, to table and chair rentals, to securing health permit, to putting up the streamer and tent, packaging the sandwiches and more. You both did a great job!

To All Volunteers with the special mention of the family of Inday Rosa Mangubat who helped in the packaging of the sandwiches and Topher for helping in transporting the packaged sandwiches to the venue.

To Carl Cabahug and his family, for the Tent as well as for letting our group set up the tent at their lot in Cadaruhan so that we don’t have to pay rent.

We would like to congratulate our Local Taga-Borbon officers and members like Alma, Roslyn, Joshua and others, for making this event a success.

Our very special THANKS to all volunteers from the Don Emilio Osmena Memorial High School led by their young and active teacher, Sir Joel Mondelo.  About 77 students from the DEOMHS came and helped in the clean-up drive at the public cemetery in Borbon, Cebu. They came in a truckload rented from the Local Municipal Office by the Taga-Borbon Organization.

Heartfelt  THANKS also to Mhet Harris for providing our volunteers and officers with a sumptous lunch package of Pancit, Puso and Softdrinks.

Cadaruhan, Borbon, Cebu – October 25 – November 1, 2008 – TAGA-BORBON Organization sets up a local bustle that gives respect to the deceased by organizing a one-day Cemetery Clean-Up Drive on October 25, 2008 which works hand in hand with the Local Government Unit of Borbon. In addition, the group also plans to hold a mass feeding on November 1, 2008 in order to fill-in the thirst and appetite of some local Borbonanons visiting their departed.

TAGA-BORBON initially kicked off its group activities last August 31, 2008 with its successful 1st Local Get-Together in Silveria Beach, Libas, Campusong, Borbon, Cebu. The cemetery clean-up drive and the Mass Feeding Project are the organization’s response in meeting one of its goals which is to support local community activities such as the “KALAG-KALAG”, which has great importance to all Borbonanons.

During the initial visit of TAGA-BORBON Local Execom President, Ms. Alma Mondigo to one of Borbon’s LGU Officials, Hon. Neal Vergara (Vice-Mayor), the said official welcomes the idea of having the organization to work in the locality. “Nalipay ko ug dako nga ang inyong organisasyon motabang sa mga civic works sa lungsod especially panglimpyo sa menteryo, etc. ug dili puro lingaw-lingaw lang”, which he positively uttered.

With the activity coming up, the organization is encouraging the support of our local Borbonanons from abroad and even those that live locally to rally around with this helpful cause.

DEOMHS-Sagay, Borbon, Cebu– October 18, 2008 – TAGA-BORBON Organization is reaching out to the residents of the upland barangays of Borbon with the  2^ND Local Get-Together to be held at the Don Emilio Osmena Memorial High School in Sagay.  The said gathering patterns from the first successful orientation drive at Silveria Beach in Campusong which was highly attended by seacoast residents.  This 2nd Local Get-Together aims to provide upland residents the chance to be informed thoroughly and explicately about the purposes and objectives of the organization and for interested parties to become members. 

What:  TAGA-BORBON Organization 2^nd Local Get-Together and Group Orientation

Who (can attend):  All TAGA-BORBON Members and Borbonanons in the upland barangays interested to join the group.  Must be at least 18 years old and above.  Below 18 years old are welcome, serving as associate members of the organization. 

Why:  The gathering would be a casual but interactive discussion among members and interested prospects.  Planned activities include:

* introduction of the group TAGA-BORBON
* history why and how it is formed
* presentation of the organization BY-LAWS
* introduction of local officers, overseas, BOD
* brainstorming on upcoming group activities (e.g. Official Group Launching/Fiesta)

I came to ruins of my past.
I smiled, as I vividly stared at them.
With both regrets and rejoice, I recalled.
The remnants haunted and tickle me alike,
rekindling a camouflage of memories in my hometown.

Behold, the debris, filled my soul serene courage.
It lifted my spirit up, now ready to face the war.

Get-Together Activity and Group Orientation blasts off in town
All for the love of “The Municipality of Borbon!”

TAGA-BORBON Local Organizers of the Municipality of Borbon will kick off full orientation drive for the birth of TAGA-BORBON as an organization to all Borbonanons working or living abroad and in the locality. Interactive workshops and displays, getting to know each other activities, a food swap and free snacks will engage Taga-Borbon members and participants in reflection to the set-up of territorial structure of the organization.

In this gathering, TAGA-BORBON Board of Directors (Overseas Territory) along with the Local Committee (Local Territory) are organizing in high spirit the special gathering Borbonanons has seen yet.

Nonoc Cave (Borbon). 83 km. north of Cebu City. Very picturesque view, shelter for picnic goers and bathers.

It is amazing that there is one natural beauty in our town of Borbon that is all over the world wide web and printed in some tourist brochures somewhere that might attract more tourists to come to our town, yet, I am not sure if many Borbonanons even know about it. So, at the TAGA-BORBON Online Community Discussion Board in Friendster, I asked my fellow TAGA-BORBON members if they know the place and if so, can they describe it in more detail.

Luckily, some of our TAGA-BORBON members and officers were adventurous enough and took the time to visit the mysterious Nonoc Cave in Cadaruhan last week of July 2008. Led by Babes who happens to be vacationing at home at that time and Alma, our Local Execom President, the group including Joshua, Harry and many more, climbed up the hills of Cadaruhan and conquered Nonoc cave inspite of the blistering sun and fear of the unknown.

Below are some comments from our fellow Borbonanons who know about Nonoc Cave and shared some of the stories that they heard about it:

“Ang NONOC CAVE na a mahimutang sa tabaynglaum, cadaruhan, borbon, cebu. sigon sa istorya usa ni sa hide out sa mga hapon niadtong ikaduhang gubat sa kalibutan, unya lisod ang pag sulod did2 kay ang intrada may gitas-on sama sa fox hole…” ~Michael of Cadaruhan, Borbon

“Dapat daw when you go there complete ka with gas masks, hait nga sundang, dapat covered imo lawas para wala garas-garas sa mga kagingking, etc.” ~Alma of Cadaruhan, Borbon

After conquering Nonoc Cave, our TAGA-BORBON Overseas Members, “Babes”, who was vacationing in Borbon during the time, went to Nonoc with the rest of the group and below is what she said about her Nonoc Cave adventure which she posted at our Friendster Online Community Discussion Board:

“d scenery are fantastic and its not even so far from the civilization. I really hope it will be soon develop kay it’s one of the nicest place Borbon can be offer and to be proud of. Wa lang noun mi manolud kay we really don’t know what are waiting for us inside. Kinahanglan nga naa gyuy expert kay maayo lang ug bitin ra atong kontra kay amo lang dad-on ang mga vayuuttzz malisang na man ang bitin modoul namo, bwahahahh… Aside pa jud nga dili madalidali ug sulod kay ibabaw kaayo ang entrance ug dili madalag sayun nga katkat. But the interesting thing nga kon madevelop na, adventurous jud kaayo kay dili man kasagaran nga cave ang Nonoc kondili very unique tungod sa kagamay sa babaan sa iyang entrance ug sa kalisud pagkatkat kay ibabaw man kaayo from d ground maong ang makasulod ug Nonoc, hero na jud… There’s a lot of small caves sa Nonoc but the one where the last Japanese surrendered is the main attraction. Daku kuno kaayo ang space didto, according to the inhabitants nga nakasulod dinha. If the rock formation inside the cave is the same sa mga gagmayng langub outside, then, pwede na gyud na pang tourist attraction… I would really had love to talk to Butch about Nonoc pero sige man lang to siya kabusy, so i was not able to. Lisud man god kaayo sakpan atong mga leaders kon duna tay tuyo nila, sige lang sila kabusy….Well, that’s another topic na..!! My conclusion to the Nonoc thing??? A WONDERFUL AND MYSTIC BEAUTY BY NATURE….and hope nga usa ni matagaan ug pagtagad natong mga Borbonanon….!!! “ ~Babes of Poblacion, Borbon/Germany
